The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has announced the rescue of another corps member kidnapped in Zamfara in August 2023.
With this latest rescue, a total of seven out of the eight kidnapped corps members from Akwa Ibom State have now been freed.
The rescue operation was carried out by a combined team of security agencies led by the Nigerian Army.
The DG expressed optimism that the remaining corps member will also be rescued soon.
“We’ve rescued one more corps member. Efforts are still on-going to secure the safe release of the remaining male Prospective Corps member who is still in custody of the kidnappers,” he said on Wednesday.
He advised all prospective and serving corps members to avoid night journeys and always be security conscious at all times.
