Her husband, Chief Owumi who confirmed her release to Vanguard on phone on Friday said, “My wife regained her freedom at about 4pm yesterday (Thursday) from the kidnappers after spending 40 days of ordeal in their den. They (kidnappers) released her after I had paid a huge ransom to them, I would not like to mention the amount in print.”

“My wife is currently on medical attention and resting in a private hospital in town. She was exhausted and frail from her long sojourn in the kidnappers den. It was a harrowing experience for her when they released her to us on payment of an agreed ransom. I paid a huge ransom. We give God the glory for sparing her life in that despicable forest. We shall talk later,” and hung up.

The victim was kidnapped at about 7am on Sunday 2/7/2017, at the gate of their Anthony Owumi estate in Amukpe axis of Sapele, on her way to church, amidst fiery gun by her abductors, sending neighbours scampering for safety. Before her release on Thursday, security men had, in her search, combed everywhere they could access to no avail.

Meanwhile, security men were, however, able to recover her black 4matic Mercedes jeep and the black Prado jeep used by the kidnappers along Elume road in Sapele LGA, the following day of the incident. Contacted, the state Police image maker, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed her release.
