APGA holds convention to ratify Agbaso Aug 11

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has slated its national convention for August 11, 2017 to ratify Martin Agbaso as the substantive national chairman of the party.

This came as the chairman of Idemili North Local Government Transition Committee in Anambra State, Chief Raphael Nnabuife, has reaffirmed that election must hold in the state as scheduled on November 18, this year, despite insinuation by some pro-Biafra groups that it would not hold.

Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Ukaegbu, explained that the convention will also ratify the position of other members of National Working Committee, NWC, as well as approve the processes of the party’s governorship primaries on August 14 in Awka. He said Oye and others behind the APGA crisis may be expelled at the convention.

Oye remains suspended

“The National Convention will be witnessed by INEC, Police and other relevant institutions. INEC recognizes Martin Agbaso as the national chairman of APGA.

“Victor Oye remains suspended by the party for serially breaching APGA constitution. Anybody doing business with Oye under the name of APGA is taking a risk. There is no doubt about the hierarchy of courts in Nigeria.”

He disclosed that the party’s governorship primaries would hold on August 14 in Awka and urged Obiano to stop risking his chances of re-election by choosing to drown with the former national chairman and join Agbaso to rebuild the party.

Election must hold to avoid emergency — Council boss

Addressing 50 APGA members at Nkpor Ward I who had just decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during their solidarity visit in his office at the council secretariat, Ogidi, yesterday, Nnabuife urged the electorate in the state not to boycott the election as demanded by the pro-Biafra groups because the consequences would be much.

He urged every member of APGA in the local government in particular and the state in general to come out en masse to cast their votes for the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano during the election to enable him get a land slide victory.

Flanked by the member representing Idemili North Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon. Tochukwu Mmegbuanaeze, Nnabuife declared: “we are all Biafrans and we support its agenda but nobody should stop forthcoming election in the state. I want to advise our youths not to create tension and crisis that will force federal government to declare state of emergency and appoint military administrator in the state”.

He further declared: “We should not thwart the democratic system existing in the state. We should not listen to anybody who say that election will not hold because election must hold which will be for our benefit. If the election fails to hold, the tendency is that the federal government will declare a state of emergency in Anambra and consequently appoint a military administrator to govern the state for some time”.
