The Independent National Electoral Commission has redeployed the Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mr. Baritor Kpagih, for the conduct of the July 8 by-election into Osun West Senatorial District’s seat in the Senate.
Kpagih, who addressed representatives of the 11 political parties contesting the Saturday election said in Osogbo on Monday that the commission would also deploy two national commissioners and other top officials of the electoral body to monitor the poll.
He said the INEC would not support any candidate or party while advising politicians to cooperate with the body to conduct a peaceful poll which would produce a winner without rancour.
The REC said the exercise would start by 8am and end by 2pm while explaining that voter accreditation and voting proper would be done simultaneously.
He added that smart card readers would be used for verification of voter cards but stated that voters whose names were found on voter registers with genuine voter cards but whose fingerprints were rejected by the card readers would be allowed to vote.
“We are not here to assist any party or candidate to win. We are not members or supporters of any political party but we are working to ensure a peaceful election which will produce a winner without rancour.
